Give all emergency responders (medical, firefighter, police, RCCNZ etc), as much information as possible, and assist to keep the location as safe as they need.

3. Take note of any property damage and take photos if possible (without disturbing any emergency personnel or potential investigations.)
If approached (in person or by phone, social media or similar) about the situation by anyone who is not a first responder or family/ staff member (eg. member of the public) your answer is "I have nothing I can tell you at this time." That is ALL you say.
If it is a journalist or family/staff member, your answer (unless explicitly told otherwise by the CEO) is "I'll need to ask you to speak with our CEO, Roger Preston about that. His number is 027-434-3452." That is ALL you say.

Immediately after calling 111, instigate our ERP
Every near miss, accident resulting in injury or damage to farm property must be reported to Roger & the SSM immediately
Respond to the accident promptly and positively
Collect relevant information about the accident
Develop and take remedial actions
Complete insurance claims and reports required
Property Damage
All damage to HeliOps Southland Ltd or Client property must be reported via our Report It system.
A first aid kit must be kept on the premises and maintained Located in Hangar & In each individual truck
All staff are certified as having Workplace First Aid
Minor Injury Accidents
Minor cuts and abrasions, burns and eye irritations must be attended to immediately
If in doubt obtain medical assistance
Serious Injury Accidents
Call an ambulance immediately (Dial *111)
Seek the assistance of any medical practitioner or first aider
DIRECT PRESSURE – use your hands
ELEVATE – raise the limb
Apply a pad and firm bandage
If necessary, use clean rags or clothing
Always check circulation below the bandage! If there is tingling, numbness or blueness loosen the bandage.
COOL THE BURNT AREA WITH COOL WATER for 10 – 15 mins
If necessary, cover the burn with a clean dressing or plastic wrap before removing the person to medical aid.
Do not burst blisters, remove clothing that is stuck, or apply creams
Foreign bodies in the eye(s)
Wash the eye(s) with eye wash or clean water
If the foreign body is stuck to the eye surface DO NOT attempt to remove it. Place a cover over the eye(s) and send for, or take, the person to medical aid.
Management of chemicals in eyes
Wash the eye(s) with cool clean water for at least 15 mins
Wash from near the nose outwards and always wash under the upper eyelid
Send for, or take, person to medical aid.
Abrasions, small cuts
Clean the wound with mild antiseptic or soap and water
Cover lightly with a clean dressing
TO CHECK FOR BREATHING:
Turn casualty on side and, if necessary, clear any foreign matter from their mouth with your fingers.
Tilt head back and raise chin forward
Check for breathing
Look for movement
Listen for breathing
Feel for breath on your cheek
If they are breathing but unconscious, turn them onto their side (Recovery position) to prevent an airway obstruction.
If person not breathing proceed with CPR as follows...
C.P.R (IF POISONING IS SUSPECTED YOU SHOULD NOT ATTEMPT DIRECT MOUTH TO MOUTH)
Pinch nose
Seal your mouth
Blow twice into casualty’s mouth
Position hands in centre of chest
Push down on chest firmly and quickly 30 times ( Rate 100 Compressions per min)
Continue with two breaths and 30 pumps until help arrives
During the Earthquake...
Stay indoors where practical, but away from windows and heavy furniture
Keep calm and take cover – use a doorway or get under a strong table or sturdy structure
After the Earthquake, if the building is damaged...
Turn off water, electricity and gas at the mains
Don’t let your water supply go to waste
Treat injuries
Get in touch with neighbours, they may need help
When help is needed go to your nearest civil defense post. Ours is Otautau School.
Submit a Report It, identifying all possible damage
Be prepared to get to high ground
Turn off electricity and gas supplies
Do not go into flood waters alone
Prevent sight seeing
Do not drink flood water
Move valuables, clothing, food and medicines above likely reach of flood water
Avoid back flow from drains and toilets – fit bungs or sandbags and weigh down
Do not endanger yourself – make sure you have an escape route
Do not use water on petroleum or electrical fires
Do not leave the site unattended if there is risk of further outbreak
Raise the alarm and evacuate people from the area
Call emergency services (Dial *111)
Assembly Point: Western corner of grass by Low Road driveway
Evacuate people from the area to Assembly point
If it is safe to do so, switch off power to all equipment
If a small fire, use your fire extinguisher if it is safe to do so – try to contain and extinguish the fire
If the fire is near a fuel tank, do not attempt to extinguish the fire – retreat to a safe distance
Call emergency services (Dial *111)
Be prepared to direct the fire service to the scene
Precautions
Do not endanger yourself
Do not leave the area unattended if there is a risk of a further spill
Advise manager of the incident and call on specialist advice if required
If spill is likely to enter a waterway notify the local authority
Spill Checklist
Raise the alarm and evacuate people if necessary
Call emergency services (Dial *111)
Utilise safety equipment to contain the spill (spill kits are on the utes)
If the spill is from the hose or tap, shut the isolation valve
Warn people in area of the spill – evaluate if necessary
Remove sources of ignition if flammable substance present
Weigh up the spill – only respond if you believe it is safe to do so
Refer to the safety data sheet or call on an approved handler or other specialists for advice
If necessary, call emergency services and advise local authority
Put on safety equipment (e.g. overalls, boots, gloves, eye protection, etc)
Contain the spill if it is safe to do so – utilise a drip tray or oversize container or spill kit to soak up the substance
Dispose of waste safely as set out in the safety data sheet
